Are you a DIY Wedding Couple? If so, 10 reasons why you should hire a day-of-coordinator for your wedding.

 DELEGATING

1) You nor your spouse to be need to be running around the day of your wedding putting up decorations or accepting deliveries. (Neither should your mother, mother-in-law, sisters or cousins)

DETAIL WORRYING

2) Quick second thinking decisions should be left up to the professional. On your day you will not be thinking that if the banquet manager moves the cake to the other side of the reception hall the sun will be blazing and it will melt the buttermilk frosting right off your $900 wedding cake. (Average wedding cake cost is $543 according to Bridal Association of America)

SPECIFICS

3) You did not read the fine print in the transportation contract that says if you make your limo driver wait more than 15 minutes they will charge you for an additional hour. Your day-of coordinator will review all contracts one month prior to the wedding and let you know this before hand; you will be on time.

IN A TIMELY FASHION

4) You don’t want to find out that your husband to be overslept because he stayed out till 3:30 in the morning celebrating his last day as a single man. Posh By Jones provides a cheerful wake up call of “It’s your wedding day! Wake up! Rise and shine! Don’t be late.” Then a secondary call to the Best Man, “Get him up!.” (Well, they need to be on time.)

RETIRE THE ATTIRE

5) You’re leaving from the hotel straight to the airport for your honeymoon. Yikes! What do you do with the wedding dress and tuxedo? Posh By Jones provides a service of picking up your wedding dress and tuxedo the same day as your wedding or the next morning from your hotel and will drop it off at the proper destination. No need for you to worry.

IMPORTANT THINGS TOGETHER?

6) “I forgot the marriage license!” Posh By Jones will remind the groom to give the marriage license to the best man the night before at the rehearsal dinner or the morning of the wedding. He will then give that to the wedding planner who will 1) make sure it is there for the proper signatures 2) make sure it gets mailed to the clerk of the court the next business day, phew. Making sure you really are married according to the state.

ALL LINED UP

7) “What time do I need to be at the church?”, asks the maid-of-honor. On the day of the rehearsal, an itinerary will be given to the wedding party and parents of the bride and groom. As long as we have the bride and groom, someone will be getting married.

RUNNING OUT OF TIME!

8 ) “I don’t have enough time!” Posh By Jones will make sure that everything stays on track and that time will be on your side.

DRAMA FREE!

9) “My friends ex-girlfriend is going to be there with my other friend’s ex-boyfriend. Who sits where?” Posh By Jones will give you suggestions on proper etiquette on seating arrangements so that all can enjoy the event and there will be no drama.

10) It’s your wedding day and you need to be relaxed. Posh By Jones works to make sure that the bride and groom have nothing to concern themselves with at least one week before the wedding. The only thing we need you to think about is relaxing, enjoying your family and walking down the aisle to become Mr. & Mrs. (Woosah…)

1997 Wedding – My First Job

Tags

, , , , ,

I guess I should have known that I would be a wedding coordinator; I possibly could have avoided some career choices. My first wedding ever was in 1997 and it was my mother’s wedding. Yes, my mother’s wedding! She married my current Dad. (Step-father, my father is deceased).

The wedding colors were simple: yellow, navy blue and white. My mom set the trend and she did not even know it. These same colors are so popular now. These colors are even considered to be classic. My mother wore an ivory gold dress with a navy blue dress jacket. My dad wore a navy blue suit, yellow tie and a yellow and white boutonniere.  I was my mother’s bridesmaid (So, Yes I have been a bridesmaid, lol) I wore a blue dress with a navy blue jacket (What was I thinking?).

Mom’s bouquet was made of white roses and yellow carnations tied with a navy blue ribbon. My bridesmaid bouquet was made of white roses with what looks like yellow baby’s breath and greenery. A friend of the family baked a yellow and white two-tiered cake. The inside was yellow cake mix. It was cute and perfect for the reception that was held in my grandmother’s Winter Park home. I played caterer. We had chicken with all the fixings. I was even DJ. I had my boom box playing “Endless Love” by Luther Vandross (featuring Mariah Carey) and made them do a first dance in my grandmother’s formal living room.

I have found memories of that day. Enjoy the photo.

Mr & Mrs. B

This past Saturday (June 11, 2011) we had the wedding for Miss. B and Mr. B now they are the new Mr. & Mrs. B. (ya dig?) Well, I have to say this was the most pleasurable wedding between the guest, vendors, the location and well the couple.

They had their vision of how they wanted the day to be; compromised when they could; but held steadfast on the deal breakers.  I think that Posh By Jones did an outstanding job. (Check out the post comment by JahGon Photography Design and Video on Facebook)

I learned a ton in this romantic process, as I think any great planner should with every wedding experience. Weddings in my opinion will forever always be a learning process. It’s a independent growing interacting of people, things and feelings. There is no way to keep it from growing; but, you learn to adapt to the personality that it begins to take on.

With time patience, understanding, organization and flexibility you hope in the end you have this beautiful event. I think that everyone had a great time, the food was great and love truly was in the air.

My hopes for this romantic affair was to convey the true love between this wonderful couple. When they return from the honeymoon I hope to do a briefing with them.

In the next few weeks, look for more posts on this wedding and what was done to make it oh so very speical.

Warmest Light,

Rachel

“Something Old, something new, something borrowed and something blue” – What is this about?

Tags

, , , , , , ,

“Something Old, something new, something borrowed and something blue” we all have heard this time old rhyme. But what is that all about? This phrase has been around since Victorian times. The “something old” represents the bond to the bride’s family and her old life; “something new” represents the couple’s new life together and their future hope for happiness, prosperity and success; “something borrowed” from a happily married woman is meant to impart similar happiness to the bride; and “something blue” represents fidelity and constancy.

Pantone Reveals Color of the Year for 2011: PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle

CARLSTADT, N.J., Dec. 9, 2010 – Pantone LLC, an X-Rite company (NASDAQ: XRIT), and the global authority on color and provider of professional color standards for the design industries, today announced PANTONE® 18-2120 Honeysuckle, a vibrant, energetic hue, as the color of the year for 2011. (See full Press Release here:  http://bit.ly/ftm0Cv)

________________________________________________

I am so looking forward to seeing the new PANTONE® 18-2120 Honeysuckle in the 2011 wedding circuit. I am thinking that the color should be used in variations of tints and percentages so that the honeysuckle effect does not become well, sickening.

Personally, I would love to use last years PANTONE® 15-5519 Turquoise along with this years color. I think they will balance each other out well and can create a lovely colorscape for any wedding or event. I agree that Honeysuckle can be a flattering hue for wedding attendants and accessories, but moderation is key to this color.

Enjoy, Rachel @Posh By Jones

How To Choose the Perfect Wedding Cake With that in mind there is enormous pressure on the couple to have the perfect cake. No one will remember anything about the food served at the reception after five years, but chances are if the cake was not picture perfect or it did not taste fantastic, it will still be talked about at your twenty fifth wedding celebration! Diamonds, diamonds and more diamonds: A girls best friend, a guys most confusing moment

Know "The 4 Cs"

Choosing a diamond for your engagement ring can be one of the most beautiful times in your life but it can also be on of the most confusing times. I found this article that explains “The Four Cs” of buying diamonds. Hope this helps and congratulations on your engagement!

Before beginning your hunt for the perfect diamond ring, you will need to educate yourself on how to buy a diamond. The most fundamental in your diamond education is learning “The Four Cs.”  The Four C’s, is a term that stands for the traits of a diamond that determine its quality. These are: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat weight. CUT: A diamond’s Cut affects the amount of light reflected from the stone.  The better the rating, the more brilliant … Read More

I love red, especially when it is related to elements of a wedding. In China red may be used to attract good luck. (If that is something you believe in.) Other cultures, red denotes purity, joy, and celebration.

Red was chosen for the masterpiece of a cake. I hope you enjoy this post as much as I did.

I wish I could try a piece! :( :)

Another wonderful cake photographed for Fay at Pink Rose Cakes Laura and Richard’s wedding at Buxted Park was wonderful and that can also be said for their wedding cake.   The cake was another masterpiece by Fay Millar at Pink Rose Cakes. The cake decoration was beautiful, the colours were fabulous and it tasted delicious! Here are some photographs that show of Fay’s creation in its full glory. [/ca … Read More

Top 5 Places to Hang a Wedding Banner

By Peter Lindeman

Summer is upon us and that means… wedding season! If you are not the one getting married, it is likely you will be attending at least one wedding this summer. Whether you are there as a guest or as a member of the wedding party, it’s always fun to throw a surprise out at the bride and groom.

One way to surprise them is with a customized vinyl banner. Below are the top five places where you could surprise the bride and groom with a banner.

  1. Back of the Car: While this may not be as much of a surprise – what you put on the banner can be. Banners can be customized with an image, use a picture of the bride and groom together. Look up “Just Married” quotes and find one that suits the couple. Order a small customized banner that will fit in the back window of the vehicle or the back of a pick-up truck. Use the trunk as leverage to hang the banner.
  2. Roadside: Surprise the wedding guests by hanging a “Congratulations to the Bride and Groom” banner somewhere on the route from the wedding ceremony site to the reception site. If the bride and groom are not going directly to the reception, find out their route and display the banner somewhere they will pass by. Perhaps, the wedding party will be stopping by a local bar for a toast to the bride and groom. If you know where they will be, contact that place to see if you can hang a banner on-site.
  3. Entrance of Reception Hall: Order a customized hanging fabric banner to display at the place of the reception. Again, use an image of the couple or find a quote that resonates with their personality. Check with those directly involved in the wedding first, as you don’t want to step on any of the wedding decorator’s toes.
  4. Their Home: Order the biggest banner you possibly can to display at the newlyweds house. Use a photo of the couple and a funny saying that will surely catch the neighbor’s attention!
  5. Honeymoon: If you know the locations of the honeymoon you can customize a banner and have it shipped directly to their location. Most hotels will arrange to have the banner hung up in their room. If they are going somewhere tropical, use that as a theme and customize the vinyl or fabric banner to fit the newlyweds personalities.

Ghost of Girlfriends Past…Loved the cake!

Ok, yes I am a little behind, I just saw the movie “Ghost of Girlfriends Past” were the handsome (badly tanned) Matthew McConaughey (Connor Mead) and the beautiful Jennifer Garner (Jenny Perotti; Not mad at her for marrying Ben Affleck) play the game of boy likes girl, girl likes boy but neither wants to admit to it. I laughed out loud at the corny lines, raised my eyebrow at some odd moments. But overall, I liked the movie, after all Matthew McConaughey was in it.

Now to the point, I L-O-V-E-D the cake in this movie that got destroyed.

The cake was simple with careful detail. I am typically not a fan of cakes with flowers, normally the flowers are over done too large and distracting. But this cake caught me at first sight.

Wonder if it tasted as good as it looked…

Budget: Planning your wedding

Before you speak with a wedding planner, you and your Fiancé/Fiancée need to talk first. The topic: Budget. This will allow you to have a clear focus and game plan before you arrive for your first consultation with your wedding planner.

Having a dollar amount in mind will allow the planner to set realistic expectations for your wedding. I would rather be shown a Cadillac that I can afford and have all the perks that I want (still driving nice) versus thinking I am getting a Ferrari and really I am getting a Pinto.

According to costofwedding.com on average, US couples spend $20,398 for their wedding. Couples in the most spend between $15,299 and $25,498. These same couples only budget for 50% less than the amount spent. And these numbers do not include the cost for a honeymoon or engagement ring. Understanding average wedding cost now can help with your wedding budget later.

I urge you, the engaged couple, to take the time and use a budget analysis tool.
This tool uses the zip code you plan on being wed in for the average wedding cost. This is a great ballpark estimator, to get the conversation started.

Posh By Jones does wedding planning!

To the newly engaged couple:

First let me extend to you a heart-felt congratulations on your engagement. This is a wonderful time in your life; remember these days always.

The amazing thing is that when planning a wedding, no matter how much time and energy you put into it,  something will not go just as you planned.

Planning will hopefully eliminate the potential problems. Or, at least make them fewer. The biggest thing to remember when creating your perfect moment is that your guest will see everything just as that, the perfect moment.

My best advice as your wedding planner is do not sweat it. Guest will remember how gorgeous you looked and how happy the two of you are, not what went wrong. Most of the time, they do not even notice.

We at Posh By Jones want to provide a stress free environment on your special day. This is what we do-this is our joy.  Your job is to relax; your joy to smile, say I do and start the rest of your life together in holy matrimony. This is your special day.

Thank you for visiting our blog, we hope to bring updates to you at least once a week. We urge you to make comments or leave suggestions on things you would like to see from Posh By Jones.

Stay tuned for new affordable wedding package details…

May God Bless You,

Posh By Jones
